Bloodborne Pathogens. Handling of blood related products can expose employees to health related conditions. BBP assessment can evaluate potential for employees to be exposed to bloodborne pathogens, universal control methods, and development of a program and related tools. Management and employee training can be provided for BBP safety.
Due Diligence. Due Diligence surveys are designed to evaluate operations or processes to determine the potential for occupational disease claims before an acquisition or merger. These are similar in nature to facility closing surveys.
Confined Space Entry. Working in confined space is a critical safety risk factor. This assessment evaluates the content, format, and overall adequacy of your Confined Space Program. The assessment includes a review of the implementation, training, and documentation of the Confined Space Entry Program.
Environmental Health Laboratory*. Accredited American Industrial Hygiene Laboratory provides accurate timely results of samples taken to evaluate indoor air, worker exposure, plant and process emissions. Collection of samples can be performed by our internal Certified Industrial Hygienists or by your own trained staff.
- Industrial Hygiene Analyses
- Indoor Air Analyses
- Environmental Analyses
- Stack Analyses
Facility Closing Evaluation*. Our staff of Certified Industrial Hygienists has the expertise to investigate and eport on technical issues of claims when performing facility closing evaluations. The objective of the evaluation is to document occupational health exposures and controls, gathering data on present and historical exposures. The goal of our Facility Closing Evaluation is to help you determine the technical merits of a claim.
Hazard Communication. Our on-site review of your Hazard Communication program includes review of:
- Methodology for compliance;
- Inventory, MSDS and other documentation;
- Controls related to identified chemical exposures;
- Employee and management training.
Indoor Air Quality. Assessments of indoor air quality are often due to worker or tenant complaints, symptoms, discomfort and even illness. We can perform preliminary and advanced investigations, using qualitative and quantitative methods to characterize the environment, determine if a problem exists, and develop possible controls to reduce or even eliminate the complaints and discomfort. We can help identify spaces that could cause employee complaints or illnesses and evaluate and recommend suitable controls.
Hazard Assessments*. Assessments can be done for a wide variety of chemical and physical agents, including dusts, fibers, fumes, gases, vapors, solvents, metals, carcinogens, noise, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and temperature extremes. Assessments often involve the recognition, evaluation (including collection of samples) and provision of recommendations on noted exposures. Depending on the number of samples or measurements required, we may also review existing controls, programs, and procedures to determine if they could be improved.
Mold Assessment. Mold is a potential exposure in many types of buildings and occupancies. Our assessment will identify the potential mold contaminates and control methods by taking and analyzing samples, and evaluating the environment.
Occupational Disease Investigation*. ODI is designed to assess the work-relatedness or technical merit of claims. We evaluate the evidence and assess cause and effect relationship. This data is used to develop a technical opinion of the occupational relationship of the claim. We help claims representatives and attorney understand the technical aspects of the claim and assist in developing appropriate technical strategies. We can provide additional help by identifying appropriate experts such as occupational physicians and toxicologists.
Program Audit or Evaluation.Program audits assess the effectiveness of programs by examining the organization, planning, programs, and policies. Our audits are an in-depth review of the occupational health program, while a review involves looking only at selected programs, policies or procedures. Areas include; Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Hazard Communication, Laboratory Chemical Hygiene, and Confined Space Entry. We also perform engineering control reviews, assessing the effectiveness of ventilation systems and noise control devices.
Respiratory Protection Programs. The OSHA respirator standard applies to all respirator usage in the workplace. Major areas covered in these assessments include: Permissible Practice & Employee Exposures; Requirements to Provide/Ensure the Use of Respirators; Respirator Components and Types; User Seal Check, Fit Testing, Maintenance; Atmospheres; and Evaluation of Adequacy, Recordkeeping.
Statutory LEV Examinations (UK). The UK Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations require employers to periodically undertake a thorough examination and test of local exhaust ventilation systems. Examinations normally include a visual inspection with measurements of static pressures, face velocities, volume flows, fan performance and integrity of abatement filtration or other media. Examinations are carried out at set periods to ensure that no deterioration has occurred.
Vibration. Hand and whole body vibration is a potential exposure to those using hand tools and operating equipment such as forklifts and power industrial trucks. Excess vibration can cause blood circulatory and neurological disorders. The EU has issued Directives to implement vibration control measures if vibration levels exceed established levels. We can measure and recommend control measures for hand and whole body vibration.
Workplace Re-Entry. An employee may be prohibited from returning to work because the treating physician is reluctant to release them into an unknown exposure and risk an aggravation of symptoms. WRE is designed to provide the physician with a qualitative assessment of workplace exposures. This allows the worker to return to their job, or another job identified as having acceptable stresses and exposures, and reduces worker compensation costs and related expenses.
