Fleet Safety

Consulting service is the integration of the knowledge and expertise of the ESIS Transportation Consultant with client processes and procedures. Consulting service may involve all of the available products and services to meet client needs. The underlying principle is a detailed analysis of losses and loss potential emphasizing the determination of basic causes of loss and a thorough evaluation of the procedures in place to help control these causes.  Solutions for improvement will be developed to strengthen the existing loss control procedures.

Claims Management Procedure. GRCS  and Claims partner in developing programs that promote early intervention, early reporting of claims, and management communication with injured workers.

Defensive Driving. The National Safety Council's Defensive Driving Course is a cost effective way to make sure  drivers know how to develop safe, defensive driving habits and attitudes. Studies have shown that participation in a DDC program can dramatically reduce violations and collision rates.  Offered on-site by certified instructors, participants learn essential defensive driving techniques that can reduce collision-related cost, injuries and fatalities.

Desktop Review.  Some clients have fleet specialists and/or experienced engineers on staff.  Our Fleet Consultants can provide consultation via telephone and/or review safety programs and/or accident files provided by the client.  We can review the material and document the results and recommendations for improvement.

DriverAware Training*^. DriverAware is a behavioral-based training program designed for experienced drivers. It promotes new competencies and provides behavioral tools for tractor-trailer, straight truck/van, and passenger car drivers.  Through classroom and video instruction, each session teaches critical facts related to the vehicles that participants operate, and techniques for evaluating and improving their driving skills.

Loss Control/DOT Mock Audit. Audits are a review and assessment of the management and administrative processes associated with the controls and verification of the effectiveness of the controls.  Our Fleet Consultants have strong knowledge of DOT regulations, the Safety Fitness compliance review process, and fleet safety and railroad and hazardous material regulations.  We can perform audits to help predict the safety fitness rating of the motor carrier in the event of a DOT compliance review.

Management Safety Process Evaluation. MSPE is an evaluation of the organization’s existing controls, and processes for: 1. reducing frequency and severity of accidents/illnesses, 2. controlling workplace hazards, 3. minimizing workers' compensation costs, and 4. integrating safety with quality and production.  The evaluation focuses on management commitment and involvement, the safety process, and communications. The format and content can be customized to reflect your corporate culture and structure.

Safety Alert*. Safety Alert provides 800-number ‘how’s my driving?’ monitoring and reporting services, allowing identification of operational problems and drivers who regularly take risks.

Safe-Sim Truck Driving Simulator*. Drivers can sharpen their skills in a safe, interactive, virtual environment. The SAFE•Sim Truck Driving Simulator puts your drivers behind the wheel and challenges them to drive through a virtual world of busy interstate highways, narrow two-lane highways, bustling city streets, and dangerous mountain roads.  SAFE•Sim provides driver training for accident reduction too expensive and dangerous to conduct with real trucks on real roads.

Substance Abuse Programs. We can assist in developing a substance abuse program.  We emphasize providing a written policy, reviewing drug testing options, designing an employee communication program, training managers and supervisors, establishing documentation and disciplinary procedures, and offering an effective employee assistance program.

Specialty Loss Control Programs. Fleet loss control programs are designed to meet the needs of our clients. These programs can include:

  • Driver Selection and Assignment
  • Driver Training
  • Periodic Road Tests
  • Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance
  • Accident Investigation Procedure Review
  • Driver Log Review and Analysis
