Paul A. Esposito to present at ASSE's SeminarFest 2010
Paul A. Esposito, CIH, CSP, CPEA, ESIS Global Risk Control Services, will be presenting three sessions: Safety Management Systems Auditing, Occupational Risk Control Strategies, and Strategic Planning for Safety Programs at the American Society of Safety Engineers' SeminarFest 2010, to be held in Las Vegas on February 15–17, 2010.
Auditing of safety management systems is now one of the industry standards for evaluating safety program effectiveness. Mr. Esposito will discuss how to evaluate not only the management systems of plan-do-check-act, but will also include how to evaluate the cultural aspects of management commitment and employee engagement.
Esposito will discuss the background for and methodology of occupational risk assessments. In addition, concepts for risk management and risk minimization will be presented with tips on how to apply leading metrics to the overall risk management process.
The strategic planning discussion will cover the following:
- Benefits and definitions of strategic planning
- A case study of how one major corporation developed and implemented their strategic plan using safety management systems, worker perception surveys, and the integration of business systems (e.g., Six Sigma)
- Overview of balanced scorecards of leading and lagging metrics for implementing and measuring success
Participating in conferences such as these is instrumental in promoting ESIS Global Health, Safety, and Environmental services. According to Esposito, it is the responsibility and duty of all safety practitioners to help our businesses, organizations, and communities prevent incidents around the world.
